Roes wins Western States 100 in a record time

Geoff Roes broke Scott Jurek's course record at the annual Western States 100, posting a 15:07:04 winning time. Not feeling good and 12 minutes behind leaders Anton Krupicka and Kilian Jornet at about mile 75, Roes eventually caught them at mile 89 and never looked back.

Dawa Sherpa wins the Drayes du Vercors

Runner from Nepal Dawa Sherpa won the Drayes du Vercors, completing the race in 05:53:08, over 10 minutes ahead of Vincent Delebarre who placed 2nd. Runners suffered with the first high temperatures, many of them crossing the finnish line exhausted.

Jurek breaks American 24 hours record

Scott Jurek broke the American record for 24 hours at the IAU 24-Hour World Championship. Jurek logged 165.705 miles, breaking record set by Mark Godale in 1999. He placed 2nd behind Japanese Shingo Inoue who ran 170.074 miles and set a Japanese national record.
